Damp Proofing for Buildings Including Basement Tanking Sheets

Waterproofing Membranes Including Basement Tanking Sheets- EN 13969 & EN 13967

Systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) are determined according to the table below given in EN 13969 and EN 13967 standards. Systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP), producer and notified body responsibilities are the same as waterproofing sheets used on roofs. The only difference between the conformity assessment procedures is related with reaction to fire classifications. Since there is no risk to exposure to external fire at below grade applications, external fire performance is not applicable for these products.

* Products/materials for which a clearly identifiable stage in the production process results in an improvement of the reaction to fire classification (e.g. an addition of fire retardants or a limiting of organic materials).
** Products/materials not covered by footnote (*).

b: Because all damp proofing sheets have a requirement on watertightness, all products covered by this standard come under attestation system 1 or 2+. System 3 and 4 in Table ZA.2 indicate only that the characteristic 'reaction to fire' is either tested by a notified test laboratory or is not tested at all.

Tasks under the responsibility of the manufacturer

Factory product control (FPC)

Parameters related to all relevant characteristics of ZA.1.

Initial type testing by the manufacturer

Initial Inspection of factory and FPC

Parameters related to all relevant characteristics of Table ZA.1, in particular watertightness

Continuous surveillance, assessment and approval of FPC

Parameters related to all relevant characteristics of Table ZA.1, in particular watertightness

Tests to be Performed by Notified Laboratories: The duties of the notified body, which will carry out conformity evaluation processes of bitumen and synthetic based sheets used for basement tanking within the scope of System 2+, are limited to factory production control, continuous surveillance and inspection. In addition, a notified laboratory under the responsibility of the manufacturer is required to determine the reaction to fire of the product.
